Starting from Piazza Santa Maria Elisabetta, home to the 18th-century parish church dedicated to S.M. Elisabetta, Cavallino offers an excellent base for exploring nature by bicycle. Along Via del Casson, which runs alongside the canal of the same name, you cross the environment of the northern Venetian lagoon to the mouth of the Sile River, passing through the ancient Conche della Litoranea Veneta, an inland waterway. Along the way, the Gates of Cavallino, dating back to 1632, mark the connection point between the ancient course of the Piave River and the northern lagoon.
