Cultural Centre

Candiani

The “Candiani” Cultural Centre in Mestre, founded in the Seventies, was projected by Iginio Cappai and Pietro Mainardis, precisely in 1978. The aim was to create a multifunctional place for cultural activities that would serve as a meeting point for the town and the territory as well. The actual construction began in 1981 and continued until 2000, with a total expenditure of over 40 billions Italian Lire and an area of 5400 sqm.

In 2011, thanks to an agreement with the Furlan family, the centre underwent a redevelopment project, included the construction of a modern multiscreen cinema with cutting-egde technologies. In 2013 “Piazzale Candiani” was embellished with a polychrome flooring and new street lamps.
