The Churches

There are several remarkable churches in Treviso. Among them certainly the cathedral, dedicated to St. Peter, that combines various architectural styles as a result of several reconstructions over the centuries. Of particular note inside the evocative crypt, the altarpiece by Titian and other noteworthy works of art.

The Church of San Francesco is known mostly for hosting the tombs of Pietro Alighieri, son of Dante, and of Francesco Petrarca’s daughter.

The great Temple of San Nicolò is characterized instead by simple and massive, but at the same time elegant shapes, typical of the Venetian Gothic style. Noteworthy the two columns with frescoes by Tomaso da Modena, who painted the nearby “Sala del Capitolo” as well.
