What to see in

Mestre Centro

Piazza Ferrettothe town’s living room, overlooked by the main buildings of Mestre, such as the “Palazzo del Re” (the King’s Palace), the cathedral, the Clock Tower and the former Excelsior Cinema (among the first ones in Italy). The square is now a pedestrian area, with numerous shops and cafés, and hosts several events throughout the year.

The Clock Tower is what remains of the ancient medieval castle and city walls, and served as control tower and entrance gate to the town. It is possible to visit the different tower floors thanks to the volunteers who are there to explain its history and events. he cathedral, dedicated to San Lorenzo, dates from the Middle Ages and is the main place of worship of the Venetian inland. The refined “Matteotti” Gallery is instead a wonderful example of liberty style from the beginning of the 20th century and offers an amazing walk along a road covered by a steel and glass loggia.
